I guess the easiest step towards such customization would be to
use different weights that could just be loaded from some
file. Different Algorithms for the calculation are a bit more complex
but as python supports the notion of functions as data it should™ be
possible.
The hard part probably will be to make the different sets of
weighting functions roughly compareable in player strenght so no
option is way supperior to another (although one could implement
some dificulties this way).
